Geohazards

The occurrence of geohazards such as landslides, slope movement or rock falls are the main causes of damage along linear infrastructures.

Slope movements do not need to be large to be destructive. Slope creep or small, early-stage landslide movements can cause substantial damage potentially resulting in major economic damage and loss of life.

The frequent and accurate monitoring of slope instability phenomena and of their interaction with existing man-made infrastructure plays a key role in risk prevention and mitigation activities.
