Apprenticeships in Geosense

Geosense apprentices

Different routes in life

We are firm believers that there are different routes in life. For some further full-time education is not the best solution or even a possibility. An apprenticeship offers the ability to get real-world working experience, with the support of both the employer and the educational system. We currently have four apprentices working across the quality and production department. They get hands-on experience in how a manufacturing business works while getting a formal education on theoretical topics. Always linked to the company, this offers great insight into how the theory works in practice. Each apprentice gets a Geosense mentor who is a senior member of staff who provides support, and guidance and liaises with the local education provider. Here’s what our apprentices have to say about their time at Geosense.

Ciaran Jameson:

“During my apprenticeship at Geosense I have gained valuable hands-on experience and skills I previously did not have, and they have provided me the opportunity to work in a job I can be proud of. Everyone is so welcoming and quick to help in any situation. I believe apprenticeships are a fantastic building block to start your career as it gives you the opportunity to work in a real-world environment while still learning new skills and gaining knowledge in areas you may not have experienced before.”

Oscar Down:

“What I like about being an apprentice at Geosense is how open and social the company is as a whole. I enjoy the teamwork and the kindness that is met anywhere I go inside the building. I am always able to learn lots of new things whilst also being offered incredible help along the way, plus being inspired by different methods shown by my other colleagues. There is so much to learn here and I really enjoy it. I love every working day as it is different from the last and so I can never be bored. This is an incredible experience that I think more people must go for.”

Tom Greenslade-Cross:

“Since starting as a production technician apprentice, Geosense has allowed me to work towards qualification during my work hours whilst receiving hands on learning & many transferable skills. Geosense has a wonderful sense of community and really cares for their employee’s progress. I have met great people who push me to be the best I can be, and I am excited for my journey ahead!”

Jennifer Leese

“My apprenticeship at Geosense has been really valuable in terms of building up work experience while training, especially for someone like me who had no previous experience in the sector. Working with a mentor and being given one-on-one training, as well as being given opportunities for continual professional development, has helped me improve my knowledge and feel confident in my role. Working at Geosense has given me a supportive environment to further my education, at the same time as gaining practical experience and learning new skills.”

Dedicated Science and Manufacturing training provider

We partner with Tiro, a dedicated Science and Manufacturing training provider, to facilitate our apprenticeship programs. Hayley Hannaford from Tiro noted: “This partnership is a great example of how apprenticeships can drive real business growth in the manufacturing sector while providing young people with outstanding career opportunities.” To help drive forward the next generation of manufacturing growth apprenticeship schemes will continue to be a vital component of workforce development, innovation, and economic progress and Geosense is excited to be a part of this progress.
